DAVID SHRAGER: The penalties in Pennsylvania for DUIs have become much harsher over the last several years. Pennsylvania enacted a new DUI statute about four or five years ago. In that law, the legislature has fashioned, repeat offenders going to prison.

DAVID SHRAGER: The stop that the police make is something that could be challenged by, by a criminal lawyer. If a stop is made improperly, if it's a bad stop, everything that happens afterwards is also bad. So if the police stopped you improperly, the fact that they gave you a breathalyzer and you had a high reading or that you failed field sobriety tests does not mean that the case will stand scrutiny in front of a judge.

DAVID SHRAGER: The bottom line is even if you're a repeat offender, it's critical that you talk to an experienced criminal lawyer to know your rights as a repeat DUI offender. Just because you are a second or third time offender does not mean that you will go to jail or even lose your job.
