MALE VOICE: --Mount Lebanon school district teacher caught in an online sex sting. And today, he faced sentencing. Nicholas Salvo will serve eight months of house arrest and five years' probation. Tonight, Channel 4 Action News reporter Bob Mayo has new details on the other ways Salvo will pay for his crimes.

BOB MAYO: Former teacher Salvo and his attorney both acknowledged before the judge that he had disgraced himself and that his crime was a betrayal of trust.

BOB MAYO: A psychologist testified the former Mount Lebanon chemistry teacher and girls' tennis coach committed his crime while his marriage crumbled last summer. Judge John Zatola told Salvo he doesn't understand how someone "hides behind a computer terminal and turns into a different person."

Salvo sent two sexually explicit videos of himself to what he thought was a 14-year-old girl, but who really was a state undercover aget who found Salvo online.

DAVID SHRAGER: Then Mr. Salvo wants to proceed in a different direction in his life. He's much more concerned about being the best person he can be and in time being the best father that he can be.

BOB MAYO: Salvo no longer lives in this Mount Lebanon home but is living with his parents. For the next ten years, he'll be a registered nonviolent sex offender on file with state police. Salvo said nothing as he left court.

During his eight months of house arrest, Salvo will be able to leave his home for his telemarketing job, for counseling, and to visit with his two small children. The county courthouse downtown, Bob Mayo, Channel 4 Action News.
